Ray Thrower has been in Public Safety for thirty years. He has served as Director of Safety and Security at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota for the past ten years. Prior to Gustavus, he served as Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police for Davidson College, in Davidson, North Carolina. Before Davidson College, Mr. Thrower was Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police for Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina. He holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Sacred Heart College. Mr. Thrower serves as a master trainer for Kirkwood Community College and holds a Certification for the Community and College Consortium for Health and Safety Training (C.C.C.H.S.T.). He is an adjunct faculty member at South Central College in the Environmental Health and Safety and Public Safety programs. Mr. Thrower holds two national certifications - Firefighter II and a Level II Fire and Rescue Instructor. He is a member of the State of Minnesota’s Hazardous Material Team. Mr. Thower is currently the President of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) and has served on the boards of numerous profit, non-profit and government agencies.
